When I was in elementary school, my idea of an awesome weekend was browsing the library shelves to my heart’s content, refusing to leave until I’d carefully selected an armful of books to take home. For years, I followed this routine religiously, along with my two best friends. On Friday nights, instead of sitting up gossiping, we’d stay awake late into the night devouring book after book. I loved everything about books – the feel of them, the smell, the things they could teach me, the images they could evoke, the places they could take me.
As I got older, my love for reading never died but I found myself slowing down as I got busier with school. With free time during breaks from school, I discovered the 50 Book Challenge. I dedicated a lot of time to meeting the challenge and enjoyed the books I discovered along the way. Eventually I went to law school and all non academic reading disappeared from my life. In an effort to reintroduce my brain and soul to non legal reading material, I am once again taking up the annual 50 book challenge. My first crack at renewing the challenge is documented below and will run from August 1, 2010 to August 1, 2011.
